Can't attach a Debugger

Mon Feb 13, 2017 5:33 am

hello,

everything works well, except for the debugger. whenever i want to attach a debugger, ph2 tells me that it's unable to locate a debugger.
the debug console works and dbghelp.dll has also been found by ph2 itself. what am i doing wrong?

Which debugger are you trying to attach?
Are you trying to attach to a 32bit process (on 64bit Windows) or 64bit process?

i'm on win7 64bit, using 64bit ph3, 64bit windbg residing in "C:\Program Files\Debugging Tools for Windows (x64)" and tried to attach to an 64bit application.
do i miss any variable, path or registry entry?

Process Hacker uses the following documented registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug

If the "Debugger" key at that path doesn't have a valid string then PH will be unable to launch a debugger. It'll also fail if your installation of Visual Studio has been corrupted or if you have installed a preview version of Visual Studio.
