Emergency

22 Jun 2015 16:24

This plugin brings up Process Hacker in newly created desktop with highest privileges when Ctrl+Alt+Shift+P is pressed. Requires elevated Process Hacker to be running in background, doesn't work on < XP. Useful when something like game crashes and you can't do anything with mouse, screen is black, etc.

v2.1:
• Adapted to version 2.38 because of significant internal code changes

v2.0:
• Removed Process Hacker source code fragments
• Fixed bug when process wouldn't launch because of "Allow only one instance" option
• Requires 2.36 Process Hacker version

Instead of copying all the code, you could've asked me to export the (one) function that you needed... (And by the way, you do realize that this kind of duplication is extremely poor software development practice right?)

PhExecuteRunAsCommand2 is now exported.

A line needs to be drawn somewhere, and crossing that line is very risky.

Hello,

@wj32 => Please also export all window + listview + treelistview handles (wherever they are present) for all windows present in ph.

Most important handle(s) => graph.c.

If you don't want to implement this then implement global font everywhere as default font size 8 is very very small.

Those pcs who don't have correct/not available/alternative display device drivers have to use font size 8 only, such type of pcs are in large nos (especially old ones).

@TETYYS => Does this work on xp sp2 ? I tried nothing happens.

What about XP ?

I've tried many times changing DPI, it doesn't look good. Where you don't want to change font, there also the font size gets changed.

It is not app based.

Have you used VS environment settings for font, it changes everything just for VS not for the whole OS. Font size changing should be similar to VS.

Thanks for the quick update for v2.38 TETYYS, one of the best ideas for a plugin yet.

Thanks for the plugin. Although I have a question: how to return to normal desktop without rebooting windows?

I ran into a strange problem with this. I installed Emergency.dll version 2.1 with Process Hacker 2.39.124 (under Win10 Pro x64). I didn't want the notifications to appear each time the randomly-named service was created/deleted/etc. so I went into the Extended Notifications plugin settings, Services tab. I was going to enter "processhacker*" to exclude that mask, but every time I typed "p", the Emergency plugin took me to the System alternate desktop with Process Hacker.

Why are you typing "processhacker*" with Ctrl, Shift and Alt pushed in?

I'm not pressing any of those keys. That's the thing. I'm simply hitting the "p" key.

I am thinking it may have to do with Logitech Gaming Software, which I have installed. I will check later. Maybe.

Well, I can't say anything to this, code is set to switch desktops only if those are pressed

You need to use Ctrl, Alt or Shift before the actual key otherwise it's too easy to trigger the hotkey while typing or doing other tasks ;)

I don't understand you, can you rephrase it? pPPpPPPpPpPPPpppPp -- desktops doesn't switch.
